The Gubi lighting Cobra Table Lamp is an organic manifestation of European Modernism; a style which would be refined by designer Greta Grossman in this award winning fixture. Designed in 1950, the Cobra went on to win the Good Design Award and was exhibited in the New York MoMA, placing importance on the emerging mid-century style coming out of Grossmanas studio in California. The inspiration is self-evident with the serpentine adjustability of the steel arm and hooded shade which can be rotated 360 degrees. In 2001, Jacob and Sebastian Gubi took over their parentas furniture business, transforming Gubi in to an internationally recognized design house for lighting, furniture and accessories. Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Gubi is a purveyor of timeless and emerging designs, many of which are iconic and can be found in permanent collections around the world.
